As a MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER, WL-4749-10, typical work assignments under normal supervision may include the following duties and responsibilities, but are not limited to: * Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, repair and install a wide range of utility systems and equipment to include air-conditioning and refrigeration systems, water supply systems, sewage disposal systems, gas lines and other similar facility support systems. * Determines cause of defects and malfunctions on assigned utility systems and equipment such as Variable Frequency Drives, Fan Powered Induction Units, Air Handler Units, Heat Exchangers, backflow prevention devices, condenser units, sprinkler systems, sewage ejector pits and 3 phase motors. * Interpret and apply blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, NFPA codes for repairs and installations of mechanical systems and equipment. * Replaces piping, valves, sump pumps and bathroom fixtures. Qualifications You may qualify at the WL-10 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: Have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex Maintenance Mechanic Leader tasks including operating, repairing, and maintaining buildings and building support systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical and structural systems; interpreting mechanical, electrical and structural drawings and blueprints; applying techniques for masonry, carpentry, painting, glazing, roofing, and door systems repair; troubleshooting to determine the extent of the repairs required; and rebuilding component parts of industrial equipment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
