Overview:
SimVentions is a Department of Defense (DoD) contractor with technical expertise in systems engineering, software engineering, modeling & simulation, and cybersecurity engineering. Our mission is to deliver innovative solutions that address critical challenges in defense and technology sectors. We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated high school students enrolled in Stafford Countys Cyber 4+ program to join us for a hands-on, rewarding internship experience.
Internship Details:
Eligibility:
Priority consideration will be given to returning interns and students currently enrolled in Stafford County’s Cyber 4+ program. All applicants must be rising high school students enrolled in Stafford Countys Cyber 4+ program.
Deadline:
All resumes and cover letters must be submitted by December 31, 2024. Any applications received after this deadline will not be considered.
Notifications:
Candidates will be notified of their selection status by February 28, 2025.
Requirements:
Enrolled as a rising high school student in Stafford Countys Cyber 4+ program.
Interest in technology, cybersecurity, engineering, or a related field.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.
Proficiency in basic computer skills, including knowledge of common software tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
A proactive, self-motivated attitude with a willingness to learn.
Responsibilities:
Assist in supporting cybersecurity engineering tasks and solutions, including vulnerability assessments and security protocols.
Collaborate with team members on various engineering projects related to systems engineering, software development, and simulation models.
Help test and validate systems, ensuring they meet security standards and perform efficiently.
Participate in team meetings and provide input on ongoing projects.
Assist in documenting technical processes, procedures, and findings.
Contribute to research and development efforts that support DoD requirements.
Support data analysis and troubleshooting activities, working closely with experienced engineers.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Prior experience or coursework related to cybersecurity, computer science, or engineering.
Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, including encryption, network security, and firewalls.
